thanks now I have pleurisy and I havestopped taking symbicort
GERD can aggravate asthma because stomach acid can reflux into the lungs and irritate them. This is especially true when you're lying down. Symbicort can cause increased acid in the stomach, which can be a problem if you already have severe GERD. This may be contributing to your increased breathing problems at night. Zantac and Prilosec might take a little time to work, and if the Symbicort is causing an increase in your stomach acid, it could be harder to control the GERD at night. If you feel this is the case, talk to your doctor.
don't have ameter flow yes dairy makes it worse thank u I appreciate you commenting I wake up gasping for air cough n clear y throat
It can take a little while to get use to a new medication, so give it a few days but watch very closely but there may be a reaction.
Do you have a peak flow meter? It is a very important, especially when your asthma is acting up to montior.
Do you react to milk products? Symbicort has a very high level of lactose that is used to deliever the medication - I reacted badly to this.
Also look up information on lifestyle changes for GERD some of them are as following
-dont eat anything after 6pm
-try raising your bed if reflux is waking you up at night
-limit alcohol, caffeine, citrus fruit and tomato products
-stop smoking - very bad for reflux
Good luck and hopefully things settle down for you :)
