Does chance of Lupus increase with duel titers?

Hi. I have been having joint pain and inflammation, along with a long list of other symptoms. My Dr. decided to order an ANA. I have done a lot of research, but cannot find anything on duel titers. Does it matter or increase or decrease my chances of Lupus? My test results are as follows:   ANA Positive High  Titer 1:160 Pattern diffuse and speckled.
Thank you.

Thank you for the response! I will take your advice. My appointment isn't until the middle of June, but I want to go to my appointment as knowledgeable as possible.

For starters, it is possible to have more than one autoimmune problem going on.  Thisis certainly not a diagnosis, but a starting point.  Because most A-I s are not dxed w/ lab results alone.

The Diffuse pattern is also know as Homogeneous and is seen primarily in SLE (systemic lupus), but also in other illnesses as well as in older adults.

The Speckled pattern is also seen in SLE, numerous other autoimmune diseases and in some healthy individuals who show low amounts of antibody.

Your titer is really considered a "low" positive.  I recommend that when your dr. repeats this test, you spend time in the sun prior to your lab.  Maybe an hour before the dr. appointment, just go early and spend about 15 min. in the sun.  You don't have to sun bathe, just stand or sit where you are in the sun.  What this will do is, if you have lupus, it will cause an immune response, thus causing the ANA to spike.  This will accelerate the diagnosing process greatly.  Otherwise, I advise you to STAY OUT OF THE SUN!!!

Become familiar w/ the criteria of lupus and keep a journal of daily symptoms.

Just a side note, certain things seem to aggrivate lupus:
stress!!!!
sugar
sun exposure

Certain things that help:
hot baths
staying calm
getting a good nights sleep
(get a good mattress or a memory foam mattress from Sam's Club)
-I take a benadryll, along w/ 1mg Melatonin to help me sleep
SLEEP is like the most important thing.
