I'm IGA deficient too and been told that there's really nothing I can do about it. I get sick a lot (a lot less since my tonsils came out though) and I have vitiligo because of it too.
All I do is try to eat healthy and take multivitamins.
Your physician isn't treating you with gamma globulin ?
No, is it something I should look into? I was diagnosed 10 years ago and was told there was no treatment.
Yes and especially if you are still having health issues.
Good luck and if you can... let me know what happens !
can't treat iga deficiency with gamma globulin, it will cause anaphylactic shock =(
So what did your physician recommend, as far as treating your condition ?
nothing. he's referred me to a specialist, the one who diagnosed me as iga deficient originally, but i'm still waiting on the appointment.
I am so sorry that you have this condition. From the ltitle bit that I've been reading on IgA deficiency, it sounds similiar to Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (that is what I have). You may want to ask your physician about an immune system boosting supplement called "Transfer Factor" (google for more information).
I hope you keep us posted and you are always welcome to post in MedHelp's fibro/CFS forum. I am one of the Community Leaders in the forum.
