Thank you so much for your response :) I am just really scared that once I have the actual muscle biopsy done I will have gone through all of that pain for it being amlodipine. I did have an abnormal EMG reading. From what I have been told by my dr that my ANA and U1-RNP results are not that high. However he did say that no matter the number it does not usually detect how active or inactive the disease is.
Hi Gloria and welcome to the forum.
Certain drugs may play a role indirectly to affect U1-RNP, however, I think it would be very difficult to establish the link with Amloripine intake and lower U1-RNP, as this is mainly designed as a calcium channel blocker to address HBP and CAD.
My opinion is that it could be an inactive phase of the antigen, so the antibodies may not have been not present in the blood at the time if the last testing.
The weakness could be at least attributed to the drug itself as it is one of the
common side effects.
Another area to look into is gluten as a contributing factor; as of recent times more scientific evidence is linking gluten with autoimmune conditions.
A gluten-free diet has made a great difference for many, suffering from
various auto-immune conditions. Often when combined with a dairy-free
diet, it may work even better, because of cross-reactivity.
The best way to find out, if this works for you, is to actually try it for several weeks. My suggestion is to go grain, sugar and dairy free.
The effects of gluten, unfortunately may linger around for a long time, even if improvement is experienced early.
I hope this helps, however, it is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.
Best wishes
Niko
