Need HELP fast!

My family recently shared a bout of what we were told what asthmatic bronchitis in Jan 08. (myself, spouse and 15 yr old son) We were treated with ABT's, Steriods, cough meds and inhalers.
My son and I have hx of such, my spouse none. Since then we all still have an irritating tickle in our throat and fear coghing which makes us leads to choking spells. We have a dry cough and little mucos despite many meds and Dr visits. I preface with this info to say...
My son (15) has been experiencing what we thought was a sudden severe onset of asthma which he has not had a problem with since the age of 4. After multiple ER vists where we were told his chest Xrays are clear and blood o2 is 96 or better. The Dr's look at me like I am crazy everytime. Finally after 4 attacks in 8hrs one afternoon after being d/cd from the ER the PCP agrees to do a direct admit. 5days in the hospital, resp tx's Q4hrs and IV steriods and ABT's he is no better. We leave fustrated, being told his lungs are clear. Nursing being called to room never really saw the attacks only the after effects such as vomiting, rapid pulse and swaeting. These attacks come suddenly w/o prior wheezing or symptoms. They are violent and severe. After aprox 2 mins loud respiratory distress, he has have projectile vomiting, sweating, runny nose and rapid heart beat. He then can not talk for aprox 7-14 minutes. This actions comes while awake or sleep, after a sneeze, a breath or a cough. This continues for another week, randomly (sometimes not for up to 4 days and sometimes 5 in one day.) We can not seem to find what starts it. After the hospital we go to see an allergy/asthma specialist who treats my son with GERD. 10 days later with Prevacid, we see no change. Within five days of d/c we enter our 2nd hospitalization where they Dx Laryngospasms and can not find reason for sudden onset. I once again leave hospital fustrated. We follow up with Pediatric ENT who agrees with Laryngospasms and suggest we give it time. Meanwhile my son can not to go school because they must call 911 everytime he has an attack r/t their liability. So he is now in hospital/homebound home school program. I am unable to find a babysitter for a 15 yr old. So he is home alone while I work with these very scarey attacks in which time he freaks out and looks and acts like a choking victim.
So I start digging and get labs from both hospitals, only to find that his TSH was 8.3 on March 1st. He NEVER had TSH issues before! His PCP then orders another TSH test on March 12th. His TSH is now 13.5. UP "5" points in 11 days!
Can this be realted to these scarey respiratory attacks? He was playing football and healthy just a month ago. This has changed his life and it all started with a respiratory infection at home. Other may be useful info: Mom has SLE (Lupus). We are still coughing after two months of Tx.
Allergy MD says he can not put a finger on it. ENT says, not related and we are waiting to get him in to see an Endocrenologist. Scared and needing answers. Please HELP.
