Mrhwd, your doctor may have listed a blistering burn as one of the risks of the pulsed radio-frequency neurotomy procedure. When this happens, one should call the doctor who performed the procedure, so he or she can note the event and prescribe a treatment. THe next time you need this procedure done, they can make adjustments to prevent this superficial burn.
I hope that your burn heals quickly, and you can get on with feeling some relief of the osteoarthritic pain of lumbar spondylosis.
Best wishes.
Hi and Welcome. I assume you mean that you underwent a Radiofrequency Ablation procedure (RFA).
RF Ablation has proven to be a safe and effective treatment. Skin burns or thermal injuries at the site of the RF electrode are a potential risk especially in thin patients. The higher the current and use of the more powerful systems have slightly increased thermal injuries.
I've not had an RFA. We have multiple members in our communities that have had these procedures, most with great relief.
Basically you have a burn regardless what it's cause. Silvadene is a standard treatment for burns. It is Silver sulfadiazine (INN, or silvadene) a topical sulfonamide/silver antibacterial used as a topical cream on burns.
Is your burn healing? They can be so painful and I am sorry this happened to you. Watch the area closely to assure it continues to heal without incident.
Other members may post that have actually had an RFA. I wish you the best and hope you heal quickly. Please keep us posted.
Take Care,
~Tuck
