is it possible

i just had surgery on the 5th of dec. it was a discectomy of l4 l5. the problem fixed the leg pain i was having but my lower back is in so much pain. the dr said that the nerves in my lower back were so damaged that it would tke some time before they knew if i was going to have to have another surgery.
im sure most people know that a discectomy is out patcient surgery but mine turned into a 3 day stay and i couldnt walk till the 3rd day.

im glad that you do have an attorney. i know that you are tired of feeling helpless and are ready to get back to living life to fullest again...but sadly...thats not what they want. it doesnt make sense....but thats just how it is. good luck in whatever decision you and your drs make....and i hope that you will feel better soon! have a merry christmas and a happy new year!!

thats something you dont have to tell me about! ha! but i know that thats the game that they play...we cannot give up and allow them to win!  we have to continue to be persistant and be as much of a  pain in their a** as much as they are in ours!!  do you have an attorney? if not, you really should get one.

i really dont know why your dr would even tell you that your back pain would go away. it wont. surgery is NOT to cure the back pain...it is to ONLY get rid of the leg pain. thats why the saying goes "once a bad back, always a bad back". the best that you can hope for as far as back pain is that arthritis and scar tissue dont build up...that will make the pain even worse than what you have now. here is a better explanation as to what happens......the disc ruptures...it spills out fluid and material that adheres to the nerve, which causes pain....the dr goes in, scrapes away all the material off the disc....voila...no more leg pain......UNTIL...you do something that causes it to re-herniate...or rupture again..then more material will spill out...blah blah blah.  think of it has a cut on your hand....you cut, you bleed, it scars over..you bend it too much or the wrong way..it breaks the wound open again....you bleed some more, etc.......that is exactly what happens in the disc scenerio. the dr cant "fix" a ruptured disc....they can only get the material off the nerve.

you think 9 months is long?? ive been dealing with my ruptured disc for 15 months....and been waiting 7 months to see a neurosurgeon...long story...short story is...workers comp case....there are days that i would beg to have surgery done......but there are days you couldnt pay me enough to have it done. i already know that i will always be in pain.....no matter how many surgeries i might have...so whats the point?? yeah..you might get rid of the leg pain...but you are still in pain....and anytime you "overdo it"...you will hurt even more....there is no difference between having surgery and not having surgery...either way..you will always have to live with pain.
