Severe Pain.....

Ok so here is my issue..... I am 26 year's old and have severe back pain. After many visits  to my Dr. I have finally started seeing a pain management dr. It has been determined that I have a protruding disc in my lower back that has been causing the pain. I have started getting sedated injections every 3 months to help with the pain. I just had one done on 12-12-08 and it is not helping at all. I am currently taking lyrica and Hydrocodone for pain, but now that it not even working. My injection was basically useless..> Didn't do a thing for me... I called my pain dr today and the nurse told me that at this time he is not going to adjust my pain medication. I don't know what to do....I am trying to see about getting into another dr because at this point I don't know what to do. I am unable to move without screaming in pain. I actually had to leave work early tonite becuase I was in so much pain..... I just don't know what to do.... It's only getting worse.. What should I do ? My Dr won't change my meds, and I need something.... I love my job and I don't want to have to quit because I can't work......

I did call back a second time, and he's refusing to change my pain meds.. And I'm thinking because my next option would be Oxycodone or Fentanyl patches or morphine.. That's how high up I am on the pain meds........

Most injections come in a series of three. Ask you Dr. if that's what he is doing, if not then maybe try another Dr. who will complete the injection series. There are epidurals, facet blocks and trigger point injections what kind are you getting? Sometimes they don't take effect until the third time. We are called patience for a reason we must be patient when we see someone who practices their profession. If I were you I would put myself in bed for 10 days and not get up for anything, it really will help especially at your age. Continue the injections, they take time on me to work also. Time is your best friend right now and most all back problems resolve by themselves, but sometimes we need injections, PT and plenty of rest. Ask about spinal decompression or traction to your lower back and the use of a cold laser on your muscles will help. Ask you pain Dr. about all this. The worst case scenario is you need surgery and you will be in bed anyways, so try it first. Click on the "loss of voice" post and read noneck history. I've been there done that. Keep us posted!

Hope I Helped

Did you ask them why they won't change the meds? Can you call back and speak with the physician directly?
