firstly thank you so much for answering me, secondly my operation was march 21st 2011 and not immediately after but within a week I started getting a pain radiating out of both sides of my neck. My doctor (neurosurgeon) said that the pain would subside and sent me off to pain management. I was also sent to physical therapy for 2 reasons my neck and my shoulder(torn rotator cuff). My neurosurgeon saw me for the last time 3 months after my operation, and at that point looked at the 1 mri I had done and said everything looked good and there was nothing further he could do. My pain has steadily gotten worse from then till now, it keeps me up at night and makes doing most meaningful things impossible. I am at my wits end.Do you think medicating and masking the problem is a good idea? Oh and it was 5 level surgery and the surgeon thought that what was left of me was good enough. He is right on one thing, that i can walk (can't feel right leg or arm). Thank you for listening to me, this really does make me feel better knowing someone cares enough to respond. Danny

Hi there!

If the surgery has been recent, the symptoms are most likely to be due to associated inflammation, which is likely to subside with time, as healing takes place. If it has been sometime (>6 months) since the surgery, you may consider a review with your treating orthopedician to look for secondary issues and for appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
