nerve burning

How is this procedure done? How long is the down time?

I'm in the beginning of all this.  I had injections today.  No help so far.  Another set of injections in 2 weeks.  If it works they tell me they will burn the nerve.  My Anastassia did nothing for me.  I was awake.  They told me  if they burn the nerves it only lasts 6 months.  Why not just inject cortisone?

I'm confused and nervous.

I do a lot of driving so are you able to drive the next day? What's this flare up? If it is anything like the regular injections I'll be hurting.Is this done in Dr. Office or hospital? Overall would you reccomend this? If I could get the pain level down to 2 then I would be happy

It's a pretty simple procedure.
1. They prep you, mildly sedate you, and numb the injection area.
2. You don't really know what's going on until you wake up still numbed so in no pain, and as long as you have a driver you can leave as soon as you feel up to it.
3. Rest for the next few days.
4. The pain should ideally continue to get better after the initial flare up of pain. My back feels much better already (from a constant 8 to only some soreness, stiffness, and discomfort)! But I've read some people can continue to feel pain for three weeks to a month before seeing results.

Overall it wasn't even close to the pain I have been living with and I would have gotten this done three years ago if I knew about it!! Best of luck on your quest for pain relief!

Hi there!

Well, though the specifications may vary with the nerve involved; the procedure can be done through a number of techniques such as the RFA/ radiofrequency ablation etc. and is usually an outpatient procedure taking around a few minutes to an hour.
