Bipolar, want to change meds?

Hello!

I was diagnosed 3 years ago. I had been taking Tegretol and Efexor for the depression, but the depression just wouldn't go away (mania I can handle but when I get depressed its the end of the world for me). I switched to Cipram (Celexa) three months ago but it just made me feel strange, plus the weight gain made me even more depressed. I'm pretty sure I should still be on meds but what other alternatives are there? I'm not into the natural stuff, not ready for that kind of change. Please help, I just want to feel like myself and be able to leave the house more than once a week!

Peace.

I have been on one med after another. I started on Lamactil 5 weeks ago with SUCH high hopes! I am more depressed than ever now. Also I have unbelievably blurry vision now and I can't even drive! I'm seeing my p doc tomorrow. I take a low dose of Lithium as well and have seen no results from that either. I can't abide the serious weight gain that some of these meds give you. I'm not sure where to go from this point.

I've been through the mill myself  - SSRI's on their own have never worked, and from what I've read, they shouldn't be the drug of choice if you are BP.  I'm taking Lamictal which is an anti-seizure med as well, it works better for me then any SSRI did and I haven't gained weight from it as far as I know ( i only weigh myself at the dr's office).
