Seroquel didn't work for me, and I had side effects that were too much.
Different AAPs work differently for each individual. If Seroquel is not working for you, you should discuss it with your pdoc and either change the dosage of the drug itself. There are quite a few other AAPs, and a few act as mood stabilizers as well.
Overdose on ACs??? ACs work very differently than AAPs. I don't know your complete diagnosis, nor am I qualified to prescribe your medications. These decisions are between you and your doctor. But I would definitely educate myself as much as possible and have a serious discussion with my pdoc about what would be best for me.
Hmmm... Has she said why you're a big risk for OD on mood stabilizers? Is it something to do with your metabolism or she thinks you're suicidal?
As it is, it depends on the person. If you've been on them before and didn't find them helpful, it's possible it doesn't work for you. However, if you ended them before they had a chance to get to a therapeutic level, it could be a dosage issue. Only you know how they affected you. I'd say it's worth giving them a try if your pdoc really thinks they'll be good for you, but do mention you were on them before since a lot of psychiatric meds just don't act the same the second time around.
