Brain EXPLODING

I'm sure you guys all deal with anxiety in some form or another.  What do you do when you feel so much stress from anxiety and frustration it feels like your brain is exploding and you can't make the the situation go away which is causing it?  I normally would drink or something to calm down but I'm trying to stay clean and don't want to drink while taking antipsychotics but I'm close to doing it any way.  I can't handle the stress of this, I'm going to relapse or something if this keeps up.

Dear Friend,
Do you know relaxation techniques? I have had one MAJOR anxiety attack and one full week of dt's from cold turkey off meds and pain meds. During both I learned how to relax or relaxation  techniques. If you need more, message me.
Have missed our talks but have been gone for over ten days. I'm sure you heard why I was gone.
Talk to you later,

I agree with the above poster - find something to distract yourself. Here is a list of some of the distraction techniques I use:

* Imagine yourself a hero correcting a past mistake

* Imagine yourself getting praise from someone you admire

* Think about your wildest fantasy? What would you do?

You can also use counting. Counting works great as a distraction. Try counting  the objects around you and describing them as you have never seen them before. Also try counting backwards from 100

I hope you start feeling better soon and that these tips are helpful. Hang in there!

Im going through the same thing. Find something to distract yourself, like music or art. Its what im doing. I'm going through some incredibly stressful situations myself, though I was able to handle the situation in bits and pieces. Talking to all people involved and gritting my teeth and working through it. Last night I was just clutching the pillow wanting the extreme guilt to stop, and ive been having panic attacks all week...Anyways, please dont let the people who dont understand you get to you, none of this is your fault. You cant consciously control any of it.
When my mother was suicidal, after a little bit of anger at her irresponsibility, I was able to coax her out of it, because I understood. However when the switch was flipped a couple of months ago, all she could do was yell and threaten to call the cops. Talk about supportive.

Some people just have a harder time at empathizing than others because there crowded by other emotions or just simply couldn't begin to understand. I'm sorry you have to go through this, especially if its a close family member.

All of this is just a chemical imbalance of the brain, or excess gray matter or what not. You didnt will it into being, there for its not your fault. I wish more people could understand that.

What put this event into motion was I'm not recovered from my psychotic relapse entirely and someone is saying it's all my fault and chewing me out constantly because I'm not doing good enough for them and I can't cut off contact with them and just have to take it.  I'm starting to believe it is all my fault and I'm a horrible person as per them.  I just have anxiety attacks due to life events, when nothing stressful is happening or I don't get psychotic thoughts I don't have anxiety or stress or anything like that.

It depends what the situation is and whether it is a reaction to any real life stressor or just anxiety attacks that are occuring in general. As to what medication would help that's complex as sometimes anxiety attacks can occur during moodswings although of course they can occur by themself as well. Best to think over what put this whole event in motion and then discuss that with a talk therapist as well.

I'm thinking of talking to my doctor about an antianxiety agent.
