Can anyone help me setup an early warning system

Hi All,

I'm managing my bipolar quite well now and want to use the time feeling good to put systems in place for when I'm not.  Ideally I'd like to setup an early warning system linking my mood tracker into my Facebook, particularly faebook groups. As I'd like to be able to setup a group of friends and family to help keep an eye on me and have my mood tracker post results into the group, with alerts if I hit something like Suicidal thoughts.

I've recently discovered the IFTTT app and am hoping there might be some way to do it with that, if need be I'm prepared to setup a new mood tracker in say google docs, hope someone can help. Be really handy :0)

Can you give details of how your non FB pen & paper mood tracker early warning system works? By exBPpartner gets paranoid about social media so if we manage to get through this current episode it would be good to set one up.

Sorry. I meant it was used 2 years after the meeting, not 2 years ago.

Hi. I don't use a mood tracker for my "early warning." system, which already went in action once and it worked very well. It was set up nearly a decade ago, and used about 2 years ago. I didn't use social media. I also take meds, but I do know people who manage their bipolar isorder without meds.

My friends and family had a meeting with my doctors, therapist and myself. They were very distressed and disturbed because after that one, I nearly didn't come back. I have type 2 also. I have mine down the old fashion way using paper and pen and face to face. More troublesome to set up , but more "interactive" and more private. It was my psychiatrist idea, because I told him I was getting constant phone calls and "check ins" at least twice daily by my support who were going through post suicide attempt anxieties. A few of them were showing distress and said they were scared and didn't know what to do. So, we set up a get together meeting, and it really helped them and me.

For the meeting, I made handouts for a list of suicidal behavior  that I could recall that I seem to go through consistently, before I go through with my plan. I also had the action they should take when I was exhibited them. I wanted the meeting to be productive, not just a vent session. It was hard work  to getting a date and time that worked out for everyone. The final product was an algorithm and a list of phone numbers and contacts. It got tweeked and updated over time afterwards. At the meeting, everyone worked on it...it wasn't just my input alone. I made copies for everyone that they could have in their wallets.

It wasn't foolproof and it's not a guarantee. It worked the one time it was put into action.

Thanks gang, already have moody me, been using it for a while now. Have put together a much more tailored mood tracker in excel. Working well, just need to enter symptoms now and it tells me what mood I'm in. Which is great, couldn't do that before. Now just working out how to post results into a private Facebook group so that I can let a select group of friends and family know when I'm unwell without them having to log into a seperate program. Also needs a few more other tweaks but it's getting there.

I was diagnosed about 8 months ago, and acknowledging and explaining it to people has been tough. anyway you mentioned a mood track. i just ran acrossed   it a couple minutes ago.   here ya go . not sure how you would link to face book. also i guess myquestion would be do you want everyone your are associated with on facebook to know about your bipolar and you joined that group?? http://www.medhelp.org/land/mood-tracker
