Children with biploar

I was wondering if there is anyone out there dealing with children concerning bipolar. I have 7 year old grandson that is om foclin but has stomach problems and recently the diagnosis is leaning more toward bipolar and has been put on a mood stabilizer tryleptal 300mg half in the morning and a whole pill at night. Anyone with any information please share with a concerned grandmother.

my grandaughter has been dx'd with bipolar and adhd ....she is going to turn 9 in april and it has been trying but she is a blessing as well as her brother ...they live with me and hubby for 2 years now...i suspect they will find he is bipolar to but not adhd he is 7 ...there mother is bipolar and she has really had a hard time of it....but the kids are doing ok...she is on straterra in the am and invega at night....hope all goes well ...keep us posted.....deb

I am bipolar AND a special ed teacher.  I have worked successfully with a few bipolar children and I love it.  I have also just started on tryleptal (300mg in the morning and 300 mg at night.  I take it with a few other drugs, and so far I like it very much.  If I can answer any questions for you, especially about behavior, please let me know.
