Yeps I'm on Depakote @ 600mgs, as well 400mgs of Seroquel (300mgs of XR), 250mgs of Lamactil - I'll talk to my pdoc, I see him on monday. A friend of mine gets hotflashes w/Cymbalta. My GP a while ago, said @ 40yrs old I was too young for Peri-menopause. I'm going to have her check my Thyroid again, I was slightly low.
Thank you all for your input, it's most helpful,

Hi LCC. My memory is atrocious and I can't remember what meds you are on. I can remember that there have been 2 meds that I've been on that caused hot flushes, one was depakote at a high dose and sorry I can't remember the 2nd one :-s
Worth having your thyroid checked just to be on the safe side. Could also be that you have a slight virus maybe??
Hope it sorts out soon.

I was experience hot flashes and my thyroid was fine. I was told it was attibutable to high levels of anxiety. Once my anxiety was better controlled, they went away but I'd still get it checked out.
Actually the family member who has cyclothymia had hot flashes before the onset of menopause and has thyroid problems as well and has to take a minor dose of synthroid so it might be the first which is always worse in bipolar and the second which is a possibility.
Oooh I never thought about that, my last panel of blood work showed that I was low. Thanks so much, glad to hear it's that, I don't want to change my meds again!
You might want to get your thyroid tested. A wonky thyroid will give you hot flashes. I use to get thme till I got my synthroid dose adjusted.
