Lamitcal & Breakouts?!

I've been taking Lamitcal for over a yr. now-it has saved my life! I have NEVER felt better and boy did i try every BiPolar med out there. As always tho there's a down fall which i don't know if it's just me but has anyone else seem to have breakouts while taking this med? it's not a rash and it's not really really bad just a few breakouts here and there but my skin has always been under control. My dr. did not have an answer for me and had never heard of that happening. Well i'm going down the pro-active route which is helping, just didn't know if anyone has or did have this side effect. Werid cause i'm feeling amazing and have been the whole time but the only time i do get alittle depressed is when a breakout forms and i'll deal with a few breakouts instead of stopping this drug that has gave me my mental state of mind back!

Yeah, yeah, talk to a drug guy.  That's the ticket!  Yes, they usually know more about drugs.

Talk to your pharmacist about it and the side affects.  They will know more about the side affects and drug interactions than your dr will.

Is the breakout acne like?  On your face.  Or bumps on the rest of your body.

You said it's not the rash that they warn you about.  That usually only happens during the beginning if you up the mg's too fast.

Are you taking any other meds along with the Lamictal?  If so they may be interacting with it.  Ask your pdoc about that or see a dermatologist.

Lamictal is a very successful drug for treating bipolar.  Many people take it every day with no problems.  But there are a few people that have problems in the form of a rash.  Your doctor needs to research lamictal on the web because there is an extremely serious rash that can affect a person taking lamictal.  Not saying you have the rash, but your doctor should know this.  You need to see a psychiatrist that knows these drugs.  shawn
