How do you hypnotize yourself to sleep?
I know the following suggestions may seem "different", but they are natural. I have had bipolar I illness for 8 years and my doctors have never "allowed" me to take any sleeping pills. But, they did give me suggestions for sleep and I have developed some methods of my own. One method is by breathing deeply (doing breathing exercises) and the second method is taking a hot shower before bed. They may not work well at first, but with persistence they just might.
This may not work for you. I always had sleep problems and lots of pain. I can't take Ambien because I sleep walk. My therapist is also a hypnotherapist. Recently my therapist taught me how to hypnotize myself. I fall asleep immediately and usually sleep through the night. I also use the hypnosis for depression and anxiety.
Ambien is generally meant for short term use. The FDA approved sleep aide Rozerem works exactly like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and is safe and non addictive and can be taken every day. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
