frying food

Today i ate a lot of fried fish. In the afternoon i felt as if i am caught in a fire and i had to take an extra benzo pill. Is there any danger of eating food fried in oil. I know sugar is bad but what about oil?
thanks

I noticed when coming out of severe depressions if I eat fatty foods like bacon or sausage, et. I will feel much worse later on...almost like my antidepressants have suddenly quit working. Since I have mixed mania I aldo can experience high anxiety. My dr. at the time told me to avoid fatty foods with Antideps esp in the beginning. Always try to take note of and listen to what your body tells you.  I have had severe side effects from starting and stopping certain meds and pharmacist and dr. told me the symptoms I was having didn't have anything to do with the meds. But they did, and sometimes I get lucky and developing research shows I was right. But your body wont lie....even tho you still need to give any new med enough time for the side effects to go away.
Fatty foods can interfere with antidepressants if you are "fragile" and they can increase my depressive states too, (more so than just a feeling of tiredness or sluggishness)

I can't eat anything fried, I feel as if I swallowed a hot sword.  You should limit your fat intake, like fried food, but I know It's worse as well when I'm anxious :(

Sorry to hear about your experience. If this was happening to me I would count it as heartburn. I have been on medication for bipolar for decades and I have not experienced the symptoms you are explaining yet, if I do eat alot of fried food, I get heartburn. Age? I don't know. I do know, however, that eating more salt than usual is not good for a person on Lithium. Regular doses of salt are ok, you know, like a bag of chips LOL. Seriously, my doc told me not to change my intake of salt, just keep it within reason.

I hope you feel better very soon.

I agree with Bear13.  This sounds like a case of heartburn/indigestion which can be brought on by fatty foods and highly spiced foods.  I doubt very much if it is anything to do with your medications.

The danger of eating high fat foods is the damage to your arteries and heart.  As with all things in life moderation is the key here :-)

maybe it's heartburn?  i know when i eat alot of deep fried food i get severe heartburn and it makes me uncomfortable, even to the point where my chest gets tight....  i think as a general rule we should avoid fried foods, with or without our medication :)  But I don't think you're in any danger with the meds and oil..
