Motivation is completely out the door ...

My motivation is completely out the door at the moment, I have had a lot of stress in the last few months and whether this has caught up with me but I am finding my motivation is crap, and sleep I can't seem to get enough, although when I am asleep I am waking up heaps in the night!

Last night I was staring at the ceiling from about 2pm onwards, I am on pills for sleep but just kind of slogging through the days at the moment.

Anyone else feel like this at times?

Let me know how you go with the results of being tested, curious to know how many people having difficulty sleeping have trouble with Melatonin levels.

Hi there,

Thanks BP2professional I will get this checked out, there are so many things to take into consideration aren't there, will definitely look into it.

Saria67, how are you feeling now?  this forum is great, I have found it so helpful, its great to be able to talk to people who really understand where you are coming from, because there are days where (excuse the pun) I thought I was losing my mind.  But even just 5 mins on here and I feel a lot better.

Have you got a support network around you?

Hey gang, get yourselves checked out for melatonin levels, this is the hormone that makes you naturally sleepy.  Found my body doesn't make it much any more but does make cortisol very well.  You can get supplements that help reduce your cortisol levels around bed time and take melatonin.  Have found I get to sleep much better.

Certainly a lot less side effects as well.

It really helps to make lists of what you need to do. prioritise them by putting a '1.' next to the most important thing on your list and so on..

It's nice when you get things ticked off!

Hey there, I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. Just recently I have had the same symptoms that you described.  I am worried I have bipolar one and I'm undergoing monitoring through my psychiatrist. I feel the same about sleep habits, and I have started to learn to live with no sleep. Sometimes I take sleep aids or "lorazepam" I'm scared ill become addicted. Have you figured out any healthy tips for fixing this?

Thanks everyone, I think it is me reacting to the last few months as well as stressing a lot about money!  I find I go to bed thinking right tomorrow I will do X, Y, Z and then once the day gets going its all gone out the window!

I think I will just go with it, not fight it, but also not let it take me over either!

Thanks heaps for your words they do make me feel a lot better!

Hey Fizzy,
I am wondering the same thing (depression or burn out?)
- been thru so much lately.. 6 major life changes / occurances in the last year and a half - I have worked hard and haven't stopped.
All day - most of the nights.

And about January this year, I just haven't been able to be bothered about anything.
Good intentions, yes, but as soon as I get halfway through with it, I'm not interested anymore. Can't imagine doing anything worse than finishing what I just started..

It's almost as if -- I've really tried my best, given my all, and that is not good enough.
I know I'm in the wrong industry.. but there is money to worry about.
Now I don't even feel like doing what I want to do because I'm sure I won't make it work

Yes, I can relate. I have about as much motivation as a rock a lot of times. :( Also my sleeping has been bad. Either I'm asleep and I wake up feeling like have only slept for 10 minutes even though it was 7 hours, or I'm waking up suddenly and then having trouble falling back to sleep. This morning I woke up at 4:30 a.m. >.<

Yet dispite that I don't feel tired or sleepy in the day. The oposite, I feel like my heart is racing all day long and my mind is racing of course. So, I can't concentrate. No concentration and no motivation make for long and frustrating days. :(

Hi I can totally relate to your condition, I have Bipolar II and on medication and my condition at present is very much as yours and it is no fun at all as it does note just effect me but my family to.
I am hoping at some stage my mood and feelings will improve.

Thanks I have bipolar II and had been doing okay but with the few things that have been happening over the past few months I wonder if it has caught up with me.

I went to my next door neighbours house tonight, my first outing for ages, I have been to a couple of other places but couldn't wait to get home!  I feel safest when the door and curtains are closed and its just me and my family.

I am basically just trudging through the days and waiting till I can get to sleep, i have been napping through the day as well.  I haven't contacted my psychiatrist yet, as I want to see if this is just an "episode" and I will come out of it.

Sounds like maybe you are going through a depressive state.  I have sleep and motivational problems as well of this nature but for a different reason.
