Not Sure What to Think of This...

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Bipolar a few years ago, at a very young age of 14... I've since stopped my therapy and I'm currently at college and living with my parents.

My family life is quite poor, parents always arguing and very critical.

But lately, I think I've been having hallucinations, but I'm not really sure if they are, or if they aren't. Since the beggining of this year, sometimes (by that I mean very rarely) I think I hear a voice behind me whisper in my ear, I turn around and there isn't anything or anyone there, that experience has only ever happened two/three times EVER, and I'm very quick to simply shrugg it off my sholder and carry on with what I was doing.

Something else that often happens to me, is that I'm sat at my desk studying away, and I get a huge feeling that something or someone is over my shoulder, or walking behind me, and of course... There isn't anyone else there, I even get a sense of paranoia with it, as in the corner of my eye, I think I see a shadow of someone or something moving across the room.
This again, I'm quick to ignore and carry on, I do acknowledge it's nothing real and there isn't anything there, but it's still troubling me none the less.

What do you guys think?

Cheers,

- John -

a friend of mine has bipolar with phychotic episodes, and your symptoms sound similar to hers when she has difficulties with psychosis.  hers are more likely to hit her in the fall and winter, and more likely to happen when she is under stress.

talk to your dr. (or drs)  they may need to adjust your meds, or add/change therapy or something.

Hallucinations, psychosis and paranoia can occur in some types of bipolar such as bipolar with psychotic features but only a psychiatrist would understand this in full but it would be worth speaking to one again. Emotional stress can worsen any disability so it would be worth speaking to a talk therapist as well.
