Has anyone had any bad side effects from Risperdal? If so what were they?

I had to stop taking the risperdal. it did work well but i had a bad reaction to it :(
For those of you who have panic issues and hyper venitilate, you know how your hands and eyelids and lips and face tingle? Ya, thats what happended...for 3 days straight, I'm not a huge fan of meds, I know I need them, but I just am scared when they make me feel bad. I finally went and got my O2 level checked, I was fine, everything checked out, just a bad reaction. I still have a little tingling and stiffness in my hands, but much better today.

I just started Invegra 3mg daily which is the new drug in lieu of Risperdal so I will be curious as to how it works.  Supposedly, it is just like Risperdal but much more tolerated with less side effects.  Maybe something to ask your doc about although I cant comment on personal usage as of yet since it is so new for me.

I found Risperdal fairly tolerable. Seroquel was somewhat more sedating and Zyprexa extremely so. The side effects I got are common to all (current) antipsychotics. The more important thing is if you can't tolerate Risperdal and need an antipsychotic you could ask your psychiatrist about changing to a different one. Even though they all basically work in the same manner they are different enough that one might easily be tolerable for you than another. And some are more effective as mood stabilizers but you could ask your psychiatrists which ones.

I had more of a emotional side effect. I actually stopped having emotions and feelings which was rather scary for me.

I was Risperdal for about 15yrs. I had granulomas all over ( they look like large ring worm spots) and I developed prediabetes which is why I stopped it. The granulomas also faded to scars after stopping the med but it worked well mental wise for me,
