Signs of Bipolar?

I'm new so I'm not sure I'm in the right place...forgive me if I am.

I have been with my girlfriend for 4 years and we were friends and neighbors for 6 before that. Over the course of last year, she seemed to have multiple personilties. She would be her normal kind generous self (flower child if you will) with a bit of OCD, then change to manic depressive, as if nothing in the world could ever bring a smile to her face, all is lost. She would go through this a couple times a day, but then she wouldn't remember it ever happening. When I explain it to her, she would deny ever being the other (if she sad, she won't remember being happy, and when shes happy she doesn't remember being sad.

how do you know she "changes to manic depressive" manic episodes are usually joyful affairs which can then change to angry outbursts, delusions, paranoia etc. What I read just seems like normal depression to me. Care to be more specific as to the symptoms?

I agree with LLADVOCATE in many ways. I have memory lapse quie frequently and often times I stuggle with trying to recollect events. I have a very close relationship with m psychiarist which helps me tremendously. I am also as honest as I can be with loved ones are they are my biggest help. Lying to them only brings walls between us. They know but I think they don't. Hang in there and have her seek the proper care. My thoughts are with you.

A person's mood can suddenly change during bipolar especially rapid cycling although only a psychiatrist would understand this in full. Is she unaware of the fact that her moods change in a manner that is abnormal or does she have a lapse in memory and awareness when this happens as this might be something different? Regardless it would be worthwhile for her to speak to a psychiatrist.
