What is wrong with me?

hi i am a 26 year old mother of two that until recently led a very normal life. last november i had an "episode" that consisted of me doing nothing but want to sleep for 12 days. during this time my husband and parents did whatever they could to try and figure out what was happening to me but had no luck.  i had two hallucinations and some paranoia during this episode that i can remember.  when this happens it is like i go into a coma then SNAP out of them rather abrutly. My second episode happened a month later and resulted in me going to jail after i attacked my husband which is not in my character at all i am normally not a violent person.  this episode lasted approx 8 days and i snapped out of this one in a rubber room at an er my parents took me to at the advice of my psychologist. i was terrified they were going to committ me.  and i JUST snapped out of my third episode, it has been going on since the first of the month and i did snap out of it for one day in the middle but fell right back into it.  this has totally ruined my life i was a business owner, had to lease it out, i am affraid of going to sleep i don't want this to happen again please help me find some relief!!!

I have to pipe up and advise there are no natural alternatives in the treatment of Bipolar, in fact many herbs can make it worse, on "natural" drug, SAM-E has a warning right on the bottle not to take if you are BP.

It's really important you see a psychiatrist immediately, especially with you have some many breaks from reality and attacking your spouse. It's only a slippery slope down hill if you don't. It's important for you and your family.  Especially if you don't want to run the risk of being committed. Personally going to the hospital was the best thing I could have done. I was hypomanic and suicidal - my brain couldn't shut off. You'll be safe, and they can find out the right medications for you. BP is a very serious illness, that needs to be treated as such, just like any other neurological disorder.

The meds the previous poster noted are some of the drugs available, but it's best left to the pdoc which would be best in your case.

I've had agression and anger outbursts alongside extreme anxiety and hyperactivity, then I crash into a depression. It's awful.  Medication can ease up the episodes, so the soon you get the help, the better in general you will feel, but it takes time.

here's a website I just found that has a lot of information and support groups as well if you are in the US.

Wow I really hear what you are going through. Have you been diagnosed with pdocs? If so and you are not happy with one of them perhaps consider a second opinion? And if that is the end there is always trying alternative medicins to see what they think....it couldn't hurt?

I have gone through alot of puzzling health issues but generally with abit of digging and second opinions and even acupunture, chinese medicine and hypnotherapy it has eventually worked itself out. I wish you luck and hope you find your path.
