If he is hitting you, regardless of his mental state, you need to find safety, you don't want to be a statistic. There are women's shelters and safe houses. If you feel in danger call 911, tell them about his mental state, there are usually special units to deal with psychiatric issues, but he definitely needs help. You do as well, so that you can find your own safety. Being hit is not okay.
Its possible but what's more important is that because he is physically abusive that you seperate from him. He does appear to need psychiatric help and a psychiatrist could better determine exactly what is going on but if he is impacting on you in that manner regardless of where its coming from your safety and emotional well being comes first.
