I'm on 400mg of Seroquel for 5 years now with no Manic/Psychosis episodes or hospitalizations. Yes, it does make you tired and drosy, but for me during these five years I have experienced true feelings of happiness instead of the crazy fake mania happiness.
hi again...I have witnessed the 'starving' side effect of seroquel, I think that will stop after a few weeks but best to check out.when you ever see your psych again....
also the mouth twitches and shakes are too side effects and can become a problem...I may have the spelling wrong but this is called 'tarkative dyskenisia'....do some reading on this medication dear, you need to be armed with all this info before seeing the doc...good luck
I am on 600 mg. of Seroquel plus a number of other meds and I am flying high! I get terrible leg pains from it plus other things like mouth movements and shaky fingers. I don't know what the answer is. My dr. thinks it's the best thing going, can't see psychiatist till end of Sept. He's on a wonderful holiday while I sit here going terribly manic. I went to my
G.P. and he said everything is just hunky dorry. I have gained 50 lbs.while taking Seroquel and I'm just sick of it. Why are these Drs. pushing it? i FEEL YOUR PAIN.
Hi there :)
I have just had a Seroquel increase and am on 600 mg's a day cut into two doses of 300mg. When i get up i take the first one and within the hour i just want to ly down again. I take the second at 10pm.
Usually i get used to increased meds within 4 days so i hope i can with this too.
I hope all goes well with you
Hey spacejam1, Relaspe after ten years can be fatal, I'm glad to see you made it back. I space my dosing of seroquel I take 50mg. twice a day one @11:00 and one @4:00 Then I take 150mg @ bedtime. I also take 2/1mg of melotin to help with getting to sleep, this usually gives me 4 hours of sleep, I awaken and stay up about a hour and like a baby does I put myself back to sleep on a good night, sometimes I will take another 1mg melotin.
Seroquel has been a god send for me that and kolopin.
I am also a recovering addict of 24 years. I was at a NA meeting last night.I hope you are taking care of your recovery program.
good luck and keep talking
I was on seroquel. It was awful. I was mean WHEN i did awake. the doctor put me on 300mg and I had to sleep a full day on it. So they lowered it but then i slept a 1/2 day so then they put it on 50 and I wouldn't sleep and when I slept I was mean as ever. So I no longer take seroquel. its not good for me.
hey spacejam, the extended release are not good for people who need help sleeping, its better to take the old version for sleep
but now mental health is putting people on ex release because they get more samples of that drug because its new
well thats just how it was at my job,
on another note i just want you to know that i think you are awesome, i am sorry to hear about what happened but life is what it is, if we fail we start over, using what we know to help us through what ever we are going through
my son is on 300mg seroquel.........it won't knock him out at night so he has to add 15mg zoplicone in order to fall asleep, but than he is zonked out for at least 8 hrs...he does get up and go to work but its very hard, he really has to struggle to stay awake.
His psych told him to be VERY SURE he takes it 12 hrs BEFORE trying to drive. and he tries too however some nights he isn't home from work early enough...only 9hr period between being done and starting again, on those days he finds seroquel very hard to endure.
But good news is when he was on it 2 yrs ago he said it does lessen in time and than you aren't so terribly tired, yes it is very hard to function when you are so completely sedated...
good luck and hang in there.
I once fell asleep standing up when I started taking Seroquel!
It did get better with time though.
