my new counslors opinion does anybody agree?

I got told by my new counsolor to go back to a phsyc doctor the get my meds reevaluated. I'm bipolar type II and she's thinking my 60 MGS of Cymbalta are doing nothing (I know they're not because I've had a couple thoughts of suicide that passed my mind). Well she's thinking mood stabilizers are a good idea as well. I don't know now if this post goes better in general health or here but I have heart problems. I've tried abilify 2 years ago and stopped a month later because I was told to, I was uncontrolably shaky (I couldn't eat because I shook so bad it was horrible), I drooled all over the place, and I slept nearly 24/7 are there any mood stablizers out there that won't affect my heart.

I just got taken off Abilify because of the involuntary movements.  I'm diabetic as well and the Abilify was messing with my blood sugars.  I already feel better!

I have to agree with ILAD, it's important that you review your meds with an expert, shrinks are well trained in psychiatrict drugs. Actually your psychologist made a wise choice.

Temporary movement disorders and weight gain are standard side effects of antipsychotics such as Abilify but they are effective mood stabilizers. Anti-depressents can often worsen bipolar. Most often used mood stabilizers are lithium, Depakoate and Lamictal. I personally found Lamictal the most tolerable and it worked well on rapid cycling but each person reacts differently. There are websites linked up about the different available options for mood stabilizers. The counselor did make a good decision to suggest you have your medication reevaluated especially if you've had suicidal ideations. Speak to them about that and make an informed decision by working with the psychiatrist.
