Should I be on birth control?

Ok I have been having irregular periods I never take any medication or been to the docs because I'm afraid of docs. The last time I went they told me the reason my period may be late cause I might have  diabetic over weight or stress. And theY want me to go the gyn I was like never mined then. I do want kids in the future. So I went to go the clinic last week to get tested for std and hiv. I told them my period be skipping n I want to take some pills . They ask if I ever been on birth control I said no .the First Lady was like you need to go the doctor to get a full checkin n come back. So I was like ok forgot it . The other lady wS telling me am I trying to grunt pregnant I was like no but I would like to have normal period . She asked when the last time I had unprotected sex I said 4/29 that I can still be pregnant they will do a pregnancy test for me on 5/24 I told her I know I'm not pregnant she said oh yah even if you have irregular period you still can get pregnant I said without a period? She like before we put on BC we have to check under there and take a pregnancy test n your std results. I'm scared I don't want to be on a pill that prevents me to have kids she also said if I plan on having kids she will help with the family planning.
