My 14 year old was put on the Nuvaring for cycle control (currently having a period every 2 weeks)  After having it in for 5 days, she has been vomiting once daily and we are on day 4 of the vomiting.  Does anyone see tihs as a common side effect?  We thought it was a stomach flu, but it's been too long to be viral.

I was on the nuva ring for about a year and a half and out of all of the BC options that I have tried, I liked this one the best.  It was very convenient and I didn't have to remember to take it every day.  The only complaint that I had with it was that after a while it was not fitting as well as it had been when I first began to use it.

Just letting you know right off the bat- everyone reacts differently. My experience, not good at all with it. That thing for 10 months sent me to the ER twice a week at LEAST. I didn't connect the dots either for those 10 months. I swore up and down there was something else severely wrong. I would get these spasms out of nowhere where it would feel like someone was literally ripping out my lungs and just wringing them like a wet rag. It would start in the bottom of my sternum, etc. and radiate all through my chest, into my upper back and back around like someone was just squeezing the everloving out of me to the point where I was on the floor sweating buckets, in a fetal position and couldn't move, couldn't breathe and finally passed out from the pain anywhere between 15 to 45 minutes. I am a very healthy person and exercise and fitness is my thing. The only bad habit that I did have was smoking. The doctors couldn't figure out what the hell was going on with me. I also would randomly just start vomitting uncontrollably.... I thought I had food poisoning or something too. They thought it was ulcers, h-pylori bacteria, cysts, anything they could think of. They did all sorts of tests including an endoscopy. I thought for sure that it was Ovarian Cancer since it runs in my family and my aunt, God bless her, is dying from it right now. So I decided if I do have it, I want to go ahead and have at least one more baby, so I stopped the NuvaRing and smoking at the same time and got pregnant right away. I've not had a single problem since I stopped using that ring. Everything has gone back to normal. But here's the thing- I've had on-going problems with BCPs before. Be it severe vomitting, bleeding for months strait, HORRIBLE moodswings (with all the BCPs), jitters, everything. My body just absolutely rejects whatever is in the pills, the patch, and the ring. I have the copper IUD and that's been the best thing for me thus far. The only thing that's kind of raised a flag is that I'm still spotting... not much at all, but I'm going for my follow up on Wed. anyway so I will get answers then. But as far as the cramps being worse, that hasn't been my case, in fact, I only cramped one evening and that was it. Menstruals have not been any heavier than normal nor longer. I hear it's the opposite for everyone else, but I've also come to realize that my body's balance is assbackwards. LOL. Like my pregnancy this round- I cramped and had contractions ALL the way up until they broke my water then nothing.... didn't have but one mild contraction after two hours and I was running around the hospital and everything, and I delivered with no pain killers. The more I took it easy, the more I seemed to dilate. at 3 cm I was out leveling dirt, climbing into treehouses adn carrying my 3 year old down, up and down stairs ALL the time, pressure washing the sidewalk, etc. and wouldn't dilate a bit. I can make a decent amount of breastmilk during my pregnancy but my supply literally quits on me after I have the baby and not any amount of mother's milk tea can make it produce more. I tried.

So me - I most definitely know I'm a special case. LOL. As far as the cramping - I did have that too and my hooha actually formed a cast around the ring and would shed it because it jsut was not wanting to have anything to do with it. You should see my medical file and the big fat question marks across my doctor's faces when they go through it all. I've stumped 'em. LOL.

Like I said, EVERYONE is different. I know people that have had the same exact problems as me, and I know those who don't have any issues at all with it and swear by it. So it's literally a "to each their own" case. But best of luck to ya! I'm glad to hear it's working well with you because I seriously would HATE to hear it's making someone else's life a nightmare.I seriously hope and pray it will continue to do good for ya and that you've found a good one :)
