I'm experiencing complications right now actually, but I really don't think it's with any relation to my IUD. I got mine put in 3 months ago and I prefer it. Granted your cycle will be doing it's own thing, but it's still very reliable and it really doesn't hurt but a pinch when placed.
I definitely prefer it. Make sure your OB tests to be sure you are a good candidate for it.
Hi,
I just got my copper IUD taken out last month, after having it in place for three and a half years. Both times were "hassles" because I also needed to wait to find a ob-gyn who would put it in place, then years later another one who would take it out. Many also don't like to do it during your menses, so this makes for very difficult scheduling to have it put in or taken out.
It is a good choice of birth control for those who prefer no hormones, though. Menstrual cramps and flow tend to be heavier, but otherwise very reliable and nice to not have to remember. I wouls say keep "shopping" around until you find someone who will put it in for you. I hope the wait isn't as long as April for ya!
