Going on and off birth Control

Hello, my girlfriend was put on birth control,, month before last "September" to help with cysts on her ovaries. She started on ,, the 3rd week of September. She kept up with it for about a week and a half, after that she forgot for 3 days to take it. She realized this on the 4th day of not taking it and so realized that she was at the point of of no return for correcting it so she just stopped taking it all together. Her period started on the 29th of September, she decided to take some of her birth control to make it go away. So she took it for a few days then stopped. Her period came back a day later and she had it for about a week and a half. It ended on either the 7th or 8th of October. My question is, what kind of effects can going on and off of birth control in this manner have on her Period Cycle? Because she hasn't had her period yet and is worried that something is wrong with her since she's almost 10 days late. I personally think that going on birth control for a week and a half then stopping then 4 days later going back on it to stop her period messed up her cycle because of the mass of hormones being reintroduced in an on and off manner.

Hello. I am new to this forum, but I have dealt with birth control pills and going on and off them. In my experience with birth control, she will just have to wait it out until she gets her period. If she has decided to stay off the birth control, it can take up to a month for her cycle to go back to normal. I stopped taking my pill 3 weeks ago and had the "period" that gives you, now I am waiting for my normal one to start. If she doesnt start after a couple months, it might be a good idea to get a pregnancy test. Though since you said she does have cysts, that might also be affecting it, and then I wouldnt know what to tell you. I just know that yes, it does mess with your cycle, but it is not usually a permanent thing.
