How effective is BC?

I just got married and on the first night my husband did his thing inside me... I have been taking the same BC for years and its one where you only have a period every three months. Now on my wedding day I started bleeding for some reason. (Prob from stress) I have had some spotting and missed a pill on my honeymoon (about two days after the incident) but then doubled up. I still have had a little bit of spotting since then. I know sperm can stay alive inside you for about 4 days or so after. I'm curious on if I could be pregnant or not. I know it is too early for a test but I wasn't sure if there was even a chance. Experience stories welcome!! I got married the 6th so its exactly a week since it all happened. Thank you for any response!!

I would say the bleeding was because you missed that one pill, and breakthrough bleeding can last a while.  If you were taking it daily without fail around the same time each day before that, I wouldn't worry about pregnancy.  A properly used pill is very effective.

If you're worried about missing a pill again, set a cell phone alarm to "daily" for a time you know you're generally going to be able to take it, such as around bedtime.  I do this, and it has helped me stay on track.  I certainly have not become pregnant and have been using this for the nearly five years I've been in my relationship.  I'm on Microgestin and take it such that I only have a period every 3-4 months (depends on what I'm feeling at the end of the third month).

If it's been a week then there is no way to tell if you are pregnant or not - it's far too early. I would say if you a,ways take your pills, and even doubled up after missing 1, it would be unlikely you would get pregnant.
