Mirena IUD

Hello all,

I had a baby 5 months ago and had the Mirena IUD put in almost three months ago. I really want to keep the Mirena but I am starting to wonder if I should get it taken out. I figured my weight gain was due to not eating very healthy after my daughter was born, but I am gaining quite a bit of weight and that is not normal for me. I have been eating very healthy for the last month and have see ZERO weight loss, I keep gaining like a pound every two weeks. I am also very moody at times. I don't know what to do. Should I give it more time or should I get it taken out?

Did you ever get an answer to your weight gain back then?  Do you still have the Mirena IUD?

Hi,
The weight gain is more likely to be post pregnancy weight gain and not due to mirena. Hence a strict caloric control and regular exercise will help you lose weight. Aerobic exercises are best for weight loss. You can consult a dietician for a diet chart according to your food preferences. At present you can defer removal of the IUD.
The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
