Period after Plan B
My partner and I were having intercourse and it wasn't until he finished that he realized the condom had broke. We went to a pharmacy and got a Plan B pill. I read the pamphlet and took the pill less than 12 hours after the incident. About a week after taking Plan B (Sunday), I started getting light bleeding. Monday it got pretty heavy. I've dealt with heavy periods, so it wasn't a big deal to me. Tuesday and Wednesday however it got extremely heavy and has a lot of jelly clumps of blood. I read up on heavy periods and I have been taking iron supplements and drinking plenty of water, so I don't feel dizzy or fatigued. Today, it is still heavy and the jelly clumps are smaller now. I just wanted to know is it normal to bleed like this after taking the Plan B pill and generally how long will this last? I'm not in pain or anything, I'm just a little paranoid because it's to the point where I am bleeding through my pads within a (1-3) couple of hours.

Plan B can cause irregular heavy periods, so it's probably not anything to be concerned about. Unlike Ducky, I haven't had very bad experiences with it. It usually causes a rather heavy period within a few days, and then you return to your normal cycle.

Because plan B is such a large amount of hormones it can have pretty big effects. Unfortunately not everyone reacts the same way, so it's hard to know "normal". Personally my experience was very very bad, very bad. Sick in bed for 3 days with nausea, cramps, and headaches kind of bad. Plan b can also have a large effect on your period -personally I had 2 periods in a month and they were some of the worst I've ever had.
I think as long as you're not bleeding through a pad every hour, you don't feel faint, and the period doesn't last more than 2 weeks you're ok. Talk to a dr or pharmacist if you're concerned about any side effects though. You know your body best so if something feels very wrong don't be shy about talking to your dr.
