Hi!
I am 19 years old, I have never been pregnant, and I just got the Mirena IUD inserted a little over a month ago. The doctor told me to take a pregnancy test after my first missed period, just to be sure. I took one at home today and came out POSITIVE! It is digital, so there is no chance I misread it. I freaked out, chugged 3 bottles of water so I could pee again and took two more; both said I was NOT pregnant. Help please! What does this mean? I have been researching online and everything I found says false positives are very rare and typically only occur when a woman is older, is taking medications (I am not), etc. etc., none of which apply to me. They also say drinking lots of water can possibly lead to a false NEGATIVE. I have never been through anything like this before and I don't want to tell my parents or friends. Can anybody explain this? Thank you so much!
