Vaginal e.coli infection, mirena removal

Where to start.... Well, I got a Mirena device about 2 years ago. The insertion was horribly painful, but other than that I had not had many problems. About 3 months ago I started having pain, burning, etc....  I went to the doctor and found out I have an E. coli infection in my vagina. I know that it is much easier to get vaginal infections when you have a IUD. Well, I have taken two rounds of antibiotics as well as vaginal suppositories for the problem, and the problem persists. I am miserable and scared. I do not understand why the problem will not go away?  I am probably having the device removed. I am afraid that it is equally painful to have the device removed?  (I have not had any kids. I know this makes insertion and removal more painful). What should I expect after having the device removed?  Any advice on e. coli infections, or other vaginal infections with IUD´s?  I would greatly appreciate any related advice!  I just want this infection to go away! I have been suffering with this for about three months... Please help!

Is your e. coli infection in your vagina?  or is it a urinary tract infection?  Well, I had my Mirena removed about 2 weeks ago. I was very happy that the removal was not nearly as painful as the insertion. I just felt a strong cramp for a few seconds and then it was over. I am happy to have it out. however, my problems persist. Last week my doctor tested me for everything possible. I am waiting for the results. I do have a yeast infection from all the antibiotics I took, but I think there is more going on than just a yeast infection, especially since the yeast infection meds do not seem to be helping me. ug! It scares me that even my doctor seems puzzled as to what my problem is. I want this to be over!!!!!  Well, good luck with your problems! I hope everything goes well for you and that you recover quickly!

Hello,

I would advise you to have your Mirena removed ASAP! Earlier this week I was hospitalized for 3 days having my kidneys flushed because of a severe kidney infection, due to the bacteria E-coli. I had a temp. of 103 and they found blood in my urine.I'm having mines removed this Tuesday. My doctor thinks the two don't go together, but how do you get e-coli in your kidneys. I've had Mirena since June 09 and have had problems ever since with the hopes of the doctor telling me it will get better ( Negative). It's extremely painful, almost like contraction (critical abdominal/back pain). I felt like I was in labor for 2 weeks. I had to spend my Thanksgiving in the ER and then back home in my bed. Mirena was a major mistake and is the worst thing that has ever happened to me........ Perfectly Healthy and Happy Before Mirena!!!!!!!!!!!
