Mirena can be used while you're breastfeeding because there is no estrogen in it. I have never been pregnant but I have it and I love it. I wish I would have gotten it sooner. It's more effective than either the pill or condoms alone.

Well they obviously give.different advice where you are.from. I live in Wales and here all the information states it is 99% effective. I got pregnant on the mini pill also but I had been taking it for 3 years when I got pregnant. And my partner and I never used condoms. You can get pregnant with any form of birth control.
Honestly, you are best just talking to your Dr or midwife and asking for.some pamphlets on different types of.bc.

When I took the mini pill they told me it wasnt as strong and I needed to use a condom as well but im sorry pillis 99% effect but u can still get pregnant thats why they tell u to use both because I got pregnant on the mini pill  but mini pill is only 80% effective because they dont put as much because ur breastfeeding so the baby doesnt get the medication

Leahsarah that isn't true. The mini pill, or progesterone only pill is what you are thinking of. It is 99% effective if taken properly. You have to take it within 3 hours of the time it is supposed to be taken. But you do not have to use condoms as well.

U can take a pill that doesnt effect ur breast feeding but it not as strong as a normal pill so u will still need to use a condom

Your first month on the pill is ineffective for the first month or so after having baby as all contraceptives are except condoms condoms are way to go your best line of defense tomorrow will be 3 weeks from when I had my baby me and my husband are already having unprotected sex every night up till now as we don't like condoms we r about to start using them To be safe until I can go onto other contraception

I'd be too scared with just condoms...i'd probably do the pill and on my fertile days we'll use condoms for that week on top of the pill

I was wondering the same thing last week haha. I talked to my doctor since I'm due next week and figured I should start deciding on what I want to do for birth control before the baby comes since I'll probably be too exhausted after to do any real research. My doctor said the first year you're extremely fertile, especially in the first 6 months. So after a lot of research I've decided to get on birth control (probably the shot) as soon as I can and also use condoms, I'll also be breast feeding. I personally won't be ready for another baby for a year and a half to two years so I don't want to take any risks. My best advice would be to research options and then ask yourself if you'd be able to handle it if you were to end up pregnant again.

For four years me and my husband only used condoms and never got pregnant.  The minute we stopped I got pregnant straight away!

We just used condoms until I could go back on the pill. We didn't have any problems but I had to place a lot of faith in my husband, lol
