I think the brownish colour is actually normal. Mine varies from bright red to dark brown. Have you considered talking to your doctor about taking another type of birthcontrol? Each one varies in dosage. I used to be on a high dosage bc that worked great but over time it became too high for me as my natural hormone production adjusted.

How long have you been taking this bc? Sometimes it may take longer than 3 months for your body to adjust to the dosages and with you being so young, your own body will constantly be adjusting hormone levels as you grow so the effects make change as time goes on.

I sored of have the same problem, but I tend to bleed after sexual intercourse for about 3 days, its been a pain, it feels like I'm always bleeding..So I had some tests done for a thyroid problem but the test was normal, then I was tested for chlymidia which I knew would be normal then I had a pap smear done to rule out cervial cancer and that too was normal, then I had a culture done just to make sure I did't have any infections and that was normal, so now my Dr has informed me I neeed to start taking birth control to control my problem which might be a hormonal problem. All this just started after I had my second child 5 months age. Do you have any children? Maybe its a hormone imbalance??
