deciding on what birth control i want to use.,..

Hello all.

I am in a serious relationship and so far have just been using condoms for birth control. But as they can be a pain to use and a mood killer i am thinking of what birth control would suit me. Obviously i will discuss this with my Dr, but any advice would be good. I'm 26 years old and about 10.5stone at the moment and last year i had a cardiac ablation for a arrythmia which was successful. I've been discharged from the cardio Dr but i was wondering if this would have an affect on the sort of birth control i can use?
I was looking into the implant, but i have heard it can cause alot of irregular bleeding. Does anyone have any experience of this? The other obvious one was the combined pill. These will probably be the best options for me i think as i don't want something that will stop my periods completly such as the injection. I'm not keen on the coil either as a friend of mine had one and it caused an infection. Anyway thanks for any advice!

Thanks for your advice. I do actually really like the idea of just having it put in and then getting on with it rather then having to keep going back and forth to the Dr and worrying over when to take the pill, etc. I think i will definitely ask about it and see if i am able to have it. Thanks again.

Hi Im on the implanon implant in your arm. I too am in A serious and trusting relationship. I was on the pill for two years and was looking for something less stressful to avoid pregnancy. I chose implanon  because i wanted to keep my period. With implanon its effective right away just give yourself a week with some protection. This method effects everyone differently some have irregular bleeding some don't. My doctor told me it will slowly reduce your period and towards the end may stop your period . After having it installed give yourself 6-12months to see how it fits to you. I enjoy this birth control. You don't have to do anything! No doctor visits no pills at the same time no putting your hand up there with nuvaring i like it i often forget i have it. My boyfriend an i have a great relationship so we don't use condoms i have had this since April 2012. Always consult a doctor with any questions
