filshie clip removal

I am 30 yrs old, a mother of 3; ages 10, 3, and 18 months.  Six weeks after the birth of my third child I had a bilateral tubal occlusion with filshie clips done.  This was April of '09.  I started having pain immediately following the surgery.  It felt like my ovaries were going to burst all the time and that my tubes were being squeezed.   I had the filshie clips removed 10 days ago and in less than 24 hours I noticed a big difference.  I think my body was trying to fight the clips.  For the last 10 months or so I have been waking up with my whole body in pain.  It got worse and worse.  It was getting to be a struggle to get out of bed every day because of the achiness.  EVERY DAY I felt like I had been hit by a bus the day before.  My legs hurt, joints ached, and just felt terrible in general.  I also run about 4 miles a day.  I thought the achiness was either from running or just getting older.  Well the day after my surgery I woke up feeling perfectly fine.  It never even crossed my mind until then that those clips were causing my body to hurt.  As I said, I am ten days post op and have not felt the slightest bit achy since.  How weird is that?  Has anyone had any similar experiences with filshie clips?  Also, the doctor had to burn my tubes when he removed the clips to prevent bleeding.  I am wondering what are the chances that my tubes will heal themselves and I could get pregnant again?

Filshie clips are known to cause the types of pain you ladies have endured. Here is a link to their brochure. Notice at the bottom in fine print the Adverse effects. http://www.coopersurgical.com/Documents/Filshie%20Tubal%20Ligation%20System%20Brochure.pdf

I know this pain first hand because I too endured it for over a year before footing the bill for a reversal even though I told my dr. from the day I woke up from surgery I was having electrifying pains shooting from my abdomen to my knees...she passed me off.

I'm so sorry you ladies have gone through this or possibly still are. We have support groups on facebook for PTLS (Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome) which entails many other symptoms I went through as well (Hair falling out, asthma worsening, acne worsening, constant back pain, flooding menstrual cycles etc. You can find the full list by googling PTLS if you think this may be something you are suffering from as well.) However I was successful in ridding myself of the pain by having a reversal. My reason for doing a full reversal even though I am done having children was to restore my body to what it was before and regain the life I had prior to tubal ligation. It worked too! I live PTLS free now.

If you are wanting to only get the clips removed but not have your tubes opened then you may be able to get a general surgeon to do it, however more than likely you will want to go with someone more experienced in this field such as a reversal dr. They can leave you tubes closed but just remove the clips (insurances can approve this many times if you can get a dr. to admit this is what is causing you pain) However if you think you are experiencing PTLS then a full reversal would be your best shot at getting your body and life back to what it was prior to tubal ligation. I'm not a dr. I can't advise this is true for every woman but only from my own personal experience as well as what I have learned by talking to so many other women that have gone through the same thing. If you would like to read my full story you can visit my blog (no I do not get paid). It has many helpful links on PTLS as well as the links to our support/info groups. Good luck and bless you on your journey to healing!! http://****.blogspot.com/p/twitter.html

Do these clips have to be removed by a tubal reversal center or can a regular surgeon preform this procedure?

My rib and back has been causing me severe pain for 3yrs as well as a protruded left ribcage and doctors can find nothing. I've had a c-section 12yrs ago, 9 miscarriages to follow without explanation and my gallbladder was removed about 7yrs ago( also had no stones ) I just found out a clip is on my pelvic and I was never told. I am desperate to have my life back and can't find a dr to help ... would you mind sharing the name and location of the dr that helped you ?

I am having so many of the same issues I have phantom pains in my lower back both ovary areas my rigs hurt so bad I cant breath and at the drop of a dime they just stop (thats how fast they start as well ) I have had so many doctors tell me Im making all of this up. After the first year of really complianing about the pains (of course still being sent away ) they decided to remove my gallbladder and told me that the pains should stop even though they also told me that I had nowhere near normal gallbladder symptoms. I dont think its right that the companys should be able to get away with SO MANY women in pain and misery and the doctors are just making us seem like we are crazy. I have 2 children and a wonderful husband that deserves to have their mother/wife back , the way that I used to be (very energetic and happy and playful) If you find out how or where to persue this please let me know

i am 33 i have a 11, 10, 2 year old children and a 9 month old baby i had a tubal done in august 2010 and just find out it was done with filshie clips but the tricky part is i got pregnant a viable pregnancy after round eight months of the tubal. After the birth of my last baby i n 2012 i had a tubal where my ends were cauterized but the dr that performed this tubal says my clip was still on left tube but there was no clip on my right tube. Since my last tubal i have had two periods in one month on n off heavy bleeding very bad hemroid problems n abdominal pain n uncomfortable during intercourse could this b the missing clip causing my problem or normal symptoms of having two tubals so close together where culd the clip b or was it ever there. Wat makes me so mad is i asked the dr after my first tubal was he goin to give me birth control before leaving hospital or at my six seek check up he laughed like i was stupid told me i didnt need n no i just had a tubal. Okay well i did need it or my fourth child wuldnt have joined our family. Lol
