Thank you. We are going to see a hemotologist to try and get some kind of idea of what is going on. We are also going in for more blood work to try and find out what type of Anemia he has. He doesn't have any infections, flu, tb. He is anemic though and beings he cannot take folic acid for it or vitamins we are at a halt. I don't want to give him anything that is against the Warfarin. He has never had Chemo or cancer that we are aware of. I was just notified yesterday that his Anemia went form mild to a more of a concern now. This is becoming very concerning for me. Anyhow, Thank you very much and we will just keep plugging along.
Hi!
If there is increased infection and the body cannot fight it, the WBC start going down as the pathogen start engulfing them. However, since he does not have fever, it is unlikely your husband has that type of infection. Chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are the other causes. Other common causes of low WBC are flu, lupus, Hodgkin's lymphoma, some types of cancer, typhoid, malaria, tuberculosis, dengue, enlarged spleen or hyper-spleenism, and folate deficiency. Please discuss with his treating doctor to run tests to find the cause. If all these are ruled out, then it can be bone-marrow suppression.
Take care!
