Low Platelets and Anemia - 12 year old boy

Last week I brought my 12 year old to the doctors as he was battling a virus (coughing, runny nose and low fever). I also noticed a few days beforehand that he had bruises on his arms, legs and little purple/reddish dots on his arms, legs and later on his chest. His skin is a little jaundiced as well. The doctor did a CBC and found that his platelets were 30,000 - white and red cell count was good. This week - his platelets was at 25,000 and he his anemia counts are dropping (34.9 one day, 31.2 three days later, 30.7 another three days later. They are going to do a bone marrow test on him over the next week or so. We have improved his nutrients and have started to give him kale, beet greens, beet, strawberry and orange smoothies with 1/2 tsp of wheatgrass 2-3x per day. Any other parents going through this? I am in full freak out mode and trying to get myself educated on what i can do to help my child.
