My 10 year old has grown rapidly. She is 5'7. A bit chunky but doc says her weight has stayed in line with her height. About a month ago,doc did some bloodwork. She told us that my daughter had a pituitary tumor/Giantism and hypothyroid. Bone age states 13.5 years. Doc sent us to a Childrens Hospital. More blood work. New tests show elevated hormone levels, clear of all else, including thyroid issue.?? Then we did a hormone suppression test. 8 withdrawals every half hour after fasting. Doc from hospital called today and said all her hormones were normal, no brain tumor, we can't help you, refer back to your pediatrician. When I asked why her hormones were elevated, why her thyroid popped, why she is so tall, etc, I was told, well she is overweight and that can cause an increase in the release of growth hormone. She said she does not have an answer for us. I have seen many short fat kids. My daughter is not considered "fat" I am glad to hear that she does not have a tumor but I don't know if I believe it. They refuse to do an MRI. Should I be concerned? Should I let this go? It seems to me that all the testing was not done and we still don't have any answers. What do you suggest?
