Can a regular MRO detect brain AM's?

I was born premature (at 25 weeks) and I have been obsessing about possible AVM's (abnormal arteries in the brain that are weak and can cause stroke) due to prematurity even though don't have many symptoms. I did get quite alot of headaches years ago but I rarely get them now. I have been having ear pain that I cant seem get a diagnosis so in seeing neurologist this week. I did have a regular MRO without dye so if there any artery  malformations or tumours it would show right? Do they only do contrast to confirm the location? I want to ask for another MRI with contrast but I don't know if they will do it.
