I'm a 16 year old male, I suffer from anxiety but before you blame all of my symptoms on hypochonria, listen carefully. So about 3 weeks ago, I woke up with a stiff neck and headache. I just ignored it because I get headaches a lot anyways. I looked in the mirror and noticed that my right eye pupil was slightly larger than the left and it hurt. It felt like there was pressure or something and the whole day I was seeing flashes of light every now and then and I am extremely sensitive to light. The next day, the symptoms persisted and they havent gone away since. I looked up my symptoms and they directly resemble those of a brain tumor.. notably one in the occipitual lobe (which would explain all the vision disurbances). I havent been having seizures (at least I dont think) or blurry vision, gait problems, vomiting etc. I went to 2 eye doctors who checked my optic nerves for swelling or raised ICP and they said it looks fine. I also saw a neurologist who performed several neurological examinations and saw no concern. He also said he wasnt concerned because "brain tumors are rare" well yeah sure, but that doesnt mean it cant happen.. :/
My symptoms still persist, though they haven't gotten worse. I also get occasional "phantosmia" where I smell smoke. It only happens when I exhale and lasts for like a split second. Apparently thats a brain tumor sign too, great. I have headaches that occur all over my head but most of the time they hurt in the back right of my head (accompanied with stiff neck) or the top left of my head. Lastly I went to 2 general physicians to talk about it. They both said they could be cervicogenic headaches or tension headaches and again, saw no sign of a brain tumor. I eventually got a CT scan and it came back normal but I'm not convinced. I feel like the scan missed something because my symptoms still persist and they relate almost identically to the symptoms of a brain tumor and I think the doctors are brushing it off because its such a rare disease.
