I had two pit tumors - one was a prolactinoma.
If you research a bit, going off the med can make the tumor grow, so going off meds is not advised except under doctor advice for certain things like pregnancy and then it is just temporary.
I ended up with surgery for mine due to my other tumor - Cushing's. I would advise the endo office that you are out of meds when you schedule. Do you see a neuro-endo (which is advised) or a regular endo?
Thanks for your reply. It's just that I didn't went back to my doctor (lost my job and insurance), and so I stopped taking my meds. Did you have a similar situation too?
I am now looking for Endocrinologist around my area, hopefully they can schedule me soon.
Why did you stop? Did the doctor tell you to stop?
You need a pituitary endo ideally - find one at a larger hospital or at a university hospital. A neurologist does not treat pituitary, and an Ob-gyn may not be skilled enough - as most regular endocrine doctors may not have the skills as well.
You need monitoring - and in most, medication is forever, so please don't go off unless the doctor says to stop.
