Pineal cyst symptoms?

9/08 several problems began.

I experienced a loss of vision only in the right eye, I had the feeling of a bright light in the corner of my eye. I could see fine from the left eye but the right vision was cloudy and I had no side vision in the right eye. This lasted just over an hour.

The next day I had a plugged right ear. It has never gone away. It feels as if you have flown and it needs to pop.

For about a month, I would have visual problems, faciale numbness; from the middle of my forehead to the middle of my jaw, only on the right side of my faced. I started having major headaches with and without the numbness and such.

The end of Oct I decided to go the the Dr. It had gotten to the point that I was having problems every single day. The Dr sent me for a MRI, both contrast and non-contrast. Long story short, I have a pineal cyst 7mm, and an enlarged pituitary gland.

I still get numbness, very bad headaches and pain in the ear and down my neck. All only on the right side. The Dr's have said there is nothing to worry about. The Neuro did say I could take meds to prevent the Aura Migraines as he called my headaches. and also has me taking Asprine daily now. ( My Mother passed away from a stroke in 3/06) because with Aura Migraines and my family history he felt is was a good idea.

I just don't know when I will feel normal again ... No one wants to even do another MRI to see growth ... Could any of these things be TIA (mini strokes) What about MS, has anyone had that come about down the line? I have a good friend with MS, hers was very advanced by the time she had any symptoms.

Also know that an enlarged pituitary gland may also mean that there is something going on there as well - it just is not being visualized well. It should not be larger. Make sure you get to the best neuro-endo you can and if you are not treated well, move on. Get copies of everything.

Pressure from the enlarged pituitary gland on one or more cranial nerves is probably the reason for the numbness. you may be able to reduce the size of the gland with medication, depending on the actual cause of the enlargement.
Make an appointment with an endocrinologist experienced with pituitary abnormalities. asap.
Do you have any trouble sleeping? A 7mm cyst on the pineal gland sounds large enough to me to cause problems. If at all possible, be sure you go to sleep every night  before midnight in a completely darkened room, for eight hours. A dark room is important for melatonin release and controlling the growth of tumors.
