Arachnoid cysts are there from birth - many have them. So perhaps (eh) that accounts for the neurologist's reaction in 2012.
Given your overall disorder though, do you have a specialist who takes everything into consideration, as it can effect bones (how they break) and other things?
I have a copy of the report it was in 2012 when I had the MRI. The neurologist acted like IT was no big deal

I would get a copy of the reports - but the arachnoid cyst would be in the lining of the brain, so I would guess that the lesion you had was in the lining as well?
"Arachnoid cysts are cerebrospinal fluid-filled sacs that are located between the brain or spinal cord and the arachnoid membrane, one of the three membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord."
I believe that with NF you have lesions that can show up anywhere, so, this one showed up there. I have a nephew with NF.
Technically, I guess it was on your brain? But it may have been separated by a lining. Once you get more information from your doctor you will have all the details. Imaging is not 100% so the surgery tells all.
