WHERE DO I START!!!

was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid aprox 2 years ago, i ended up having radioactive iodine treatment as my thyroid would not respond to medication (HUGE mistake!!) even whilst being overactive i put 4 stone on. since the iodine 10mths ago ive now ended up with a very underactive thyroid ive being given 175m of thyroxine which have at least enabled me to get on with life a little (couldnt even get out of bed before) - i keep going back to my gp complaining of crippling headaches 24/7, my hair is falling out in clumps, my period have stopped 8mths ago, my skin is very dry, im now 7 stone overweight , im also getting terrible cystitus and poss bladder infections.. my gp says im depressed (wouldnt you be??!!) and my thyroid levels are 'in normal range' and has made me feel like a trouble maker and a pest, and all symptoms are because im 'fat' I've ended up paying for a private blood test which came back showing prolactin 1400!!! since then they have messed me around saying ive got to wait for another test blab blab.. and that my levels are high because of certain meds i take. 6mth down the line i still feel like death im having some kind of hormone test done which involves injecting me with hormones and then following each jab with a blood test every few hours (great fun!!) then a poss brain scan..i've had to give my job up and am struggling with looking after my 6yr old son as im feeling so unwell..im confused and at my wits end any suggest would be much apperciated. jules

Find a neuro-endo if you can and get more hormone testing as you may have more of a pituitary issue (which you have figured out since you are here).

Prolactin will rise with some meds. Make sure the scan is dynamic.

Once you get the right doc, you will finally get on the road, but why are they doing a stim test - what hormone?
