I would need to see the imaging in order to give you a formal opinion.
Let me know when you have access to your discs with MRIs and I can evaluate them free of charge.
Thanks
thank you so much for the info !! you have gave me more info than i have gotten from my neurosurgeon all year. i feel my surgeon isent taking my tumor or symptoms seriously at all. i realy would love for you to look at my mris but i dont have any and havent even seen but 2 views and that was the one of jan and the nickle size in may.i have asked for my mri and i was told he will make me copys for $15.00 a disk . i havent even touched my mris or he dont show me or go over them at all. i feel helpless as i have no idea what my tumor is doing and he dont bring them in the room and show me at all. im wanting a second opinion but have no films to see. he let me go blind in my left eye before my crainotomy in 06 and thankfuly my vision came back after, so thats why im worried hes telling me my tumor is very rare as its aggresive and my age is one in a million. i go to university of ky and its a teaching hospital so im the rat. i am having sever pressure headaches like never before and they last up to 6 hrs. im not wanting to sue or put my surgeon down just want to know should i trust him like my husband says or run ? the mri disk should i have to pay for copys , i payed for the mris and never see them. i just get told come back in 6 months and leave feeling as hes not taking my health seriously. i just need some advice on this and the headaches are really starting to scare me. thanks for your time, brainpain.
you need to see someone else!!!!! im sorry to hear you have seizures. i had them for 17 years of my life but they were the petit mal ones. i hope all works out for you. i went to ucsf and had brain surgery 17 years ago and have been fine since. had the second or third best surgeon in the world. take care of yourself and i hope it all works out for you. go get more opinions.dont let them tell you its nothing and drag you around in circles.for many many years no one helped me til i was sent to the univerity of california san francisco. they are good doctors there.
At this time I would not expect to see swelling related to the MRI.
The dead tissue gets reabsorbed. No need for surgery. If tumor grows though, after gamma knife, then usually some type of surgery is necessary.
If you want I can take a look at your mRIs.
i do have a neuro for my seizures and i have been seen by a seizure spealist. the seizure spealist wants me to have the vns implant . i need that done but i also need my yearly mri for my tumor. my first tumor grew from 7mm to 22mm in 2 years. my tumor was found this jan was size of pea and in 3 months was size of a nickle. my neurosurgeon says both my tumors are very aggressive. i was told after my 6 month mri follow up my craniopharyngioma has dead tissue around it. thats all the info i got and i go in april for my next mri. will i need to have the dead tissue removed ? i get pain in my head it feels like my brain is pressing out of skull and i get sever pain in my eye feels like a hot needle poking in it . i had never gotten that before. could my brain still have swelling from the gamma knife ? thank you for your help and advice.
Dear Brainpain
It sounds like your old epilepsy was triggered by Gamma Knife. It is unlikely that Gamma knife generated seizures itself.
You should look for a neurologist specialized in epilepsy in case you don't have one. It sounds like you need EEG invetigation with mediation changes etc.
Is the tumor under control after gamma knife?
Thank you
